Planning a trip
Hearing music in Thailand
Wonderfruit suits travellers who want house, ambient and world music alongside contemporary classical, in a festival that feels closer to a theme camp than a nightclub; the Quarry stage hosts the most interesting late-night sets. The 2026 edition runs from 3 to 7 December at The Fields at Siam Country Club, near Pattaya, and the middle days carry the deepest programming.
Fly into Bangkok (BKK). The Fields at Siam Country Club is about 150 km south-east by road, around two hours, and the festival's own site has the latest on transport. The festival uses reusable plates and no single-use items.
Bangkok's listening bars run from the strict to the social. Freaking Out The Neighborhood off Sukhumvit 36 plays every album first track to last; OBi Record Bar in Silom carries the jazz kissa idea with rare Japanese pressings; SIWILAI Sound Club on Charoen Krung has OJAS speakers built for the room by Devon Turnbull. The record bars (Modern-Day Culture, Club Salva, Yayyyyy, Sober, Long Play) are for talking over good records. Rail stops around midnight, so plan on Grab after that.
Chiang Mai has one listening bar, Deaf Shop inside the Old City, which prints which nights are for listening (Thursday and Sunday) and which for dancing (Friday and Saturday), and is on a break until 30 October 2026. Fung Record Bar is ninety metres away. Thirty Records and Noomtaofire are shops for the afternoon, with benches and a hi-fi wall to listen on.
Studio Lam closed after a 49-night farewell run, with its final night on 28 February 2026. For what Maft Sai and the Paradise Bangkok label do next, follow Zudrangma Records on Sukhumvit Soi 51.
