In the room
The room
Ari is the neighbourhood north of Victory Monument, a good one to eat in, and Josh Hotel sits on Soi Ari 4, the north side, eight minutes from the BTS. Up one flight is Long Play: a warm, slightly mysterious room in dark tones, in Time Out's phrase, with a large projector throwing images across one wall and the records racked around it. The projector is the odd detail. Most listening rooms give you nothing to look at on purpose. This one gives you a wall.
Rotating DJs set the direction most nights. The hotel's own page puts live jazz on Friday and Saturday with the Club Patongko DJ team, which is as specific as the sources get about the programme.
Who made it
The people
Josh Hotel, which runs the bar as part of the building. The hotel's Instagram is the only account published, and it is the hotel's, not the bar's.
Which night
The night
Friday or Saturday for the jazz. Eat in Ari first, because Ari is a better place to eat than almost anywhere else on this list, then come up for the cocktail list and the wall. Tuesday to Sunday, 18:00 to 01:00, closed Monday. Tables can be reserved through the hotel's Nightify link, which is the kind of sentence that tells you a hotel is involved.
Insider tip
Walk in knowing
Eat in Ari, then go up one flight. Friday and Saturday are the jazz nights; book through the hotel if it matters.
Why it fits
Why it is in the atlas
A hotel record bar that gives you a wall to look at, which most listening rooms refuse to do, and two jazz nights a week in the best eating neighbourhood on the list.
