In the room
The room
Across the Chao Phraya, six minutes from Fai Chai MRT on the Thonburi side, Soi Phran Nok 6 is not somewhere the Sukhumvit crowd ends up by accident. Number 823/18 is the musical obsession of one person made into a room: rare records, books and memorabilia from the owner's own collection filling the walls around a small bar, so that Time Out's comparison, a night at a friend's house, is about as literal as the phrase gets. You browse vinyl between drinks. Some of it is for sale.
A small group of music lovers treat it as a regular haunt, and the room occasionally turns into a stage for secret gigs by indie artists. If Nong Khom the cat comes to your table, say hello. That instruction is in the source and it is the best one on this page.
Who made it
The people
Tum Tokin Teekhanont, a familiar name in Thailand's music-video and independent-festival scenes, whose collection this is. No opening date is published.
Which night
The night
Watch for a secret gig; otherwise any night from Wednesday to Sunday, 17:00 to midnight. Prices are not published, which is normal for a room that is mostly somebody's living room. Ask.
