In the room
The room
Come out of Thong Lo station and walk down Soi Sukhumvit 36 until the pavement gives up. The last stretch, by one account from January 2026, is a dark street with lorries on it and dogs barking from behind the gates, and then a metal container building with neon on the front, parked in a residential soi like something a crane forgot. Inside it is very dark. Two four-seat tables, a counter, a handwritten card that reads "please keep your conversation at a low volume". The owner-verified listing gives the speakers as JBL 4344s, a big 1980s studio monitor, which is to say a speaker built for people paid to notice mistakes. The bartender lit the candle with a blowtorch.
The rule is the thing. Each album plays first track to last, no skipping, and the week's records go up in advance, so you come for the pressing you want and sit with people who came for the same one. One order per guest. Time Out calls the room closer to a friend's place than a nightspot and the idea "simple, thoughtfully executed", which is accurate and also the catch: it depends on the friends.
Who made it
The people
It comes from the team behind Have You Heard, the Bangkok promoter that runs the Maho Rasop festival and its own record label, which explains the programme: alternative, indie, experimental jazz, electronica, trip hop, and ticketed pre-release sessions like Beth Gibbons's Lives Outgrown in May 2024, played seated, in full, before the shops had it. Nobody has published who the owners are or exactly when the door opened, and the bar does not seem to mind.
Which night
The night
A psych night in January ran Landowner, Ash Ra Tempel and Animal Collective before the headline, Black Midi's Schlagenheim, forty-three minutes with nobody touching the arm. Mixed drinks start at about 400 baht; a craft cola was 170, which the same visitor noted costs 50 on Shopee. He also found three tables talking over the record. The card asks. It does not insist. Go early, go on a weeknight, and be the table that listens.

Insider tip
Walk in knowing
