Pulse
A bar garden in Osu, Accra at dusk, festoon bulbs under palms, DJ decks on a cloth-covered table and a speaker, nobody there.

Accra's electronic side grew up in art spaces, not clubs: Keyzuz started No Requests in a warehouse in 2016, and the Nubuke Foundation lawn hosted his nights in 2018. Today it moves between the bars of Osu and one-off rooms such as No. 19 Accra in Airport Residential, where iMullar SoundSystem's Energy series put Que DJ on the decks on 28 February 2026. Women-run crews book the nights. Time Out put the city 18th on its 2026 world nightlife list, though the mainstream is Afrobeats and Afro house, and the evidence is thinner and older than in Lagos. Mid-December to New Year is the season. Mr Eazi has pledged two million dollars for venues. Nothing is built yet.

Sounds of Accra

Each sound has its own page: what it is, its tempo where a source gives one, where it comes from and who carried it.

The scene

Accra has a long-running but niche left-field electronic undercurrent (Keyzuz's No Requests since 2016, Musiq Electronique, Gafacci's azonto-to-club path, DJ Katapila's Ga-rhythm techno) that now overlaps with a new DJ-led rave scene led by women-run crews (Afrodite & Friends, iMullar Sound System) per an April 2025 essay. Time Out put Accra 18th on its 2026 world nightlife list and names South Village and Fake Fridays as electronic/alte nights, but mainstream nightlife is Afrobeats/Afro-house and the best evidence for electronic is thinner and older than for Lagos.

Why it sits at heat 6
Time Out ranked Accra 18th for nightlife in 2026 and a 2025 essay describes a growing DJ-led rave scene, but evidence of dedicated electronic events in 2025-26 is mostly secondhand; most documented venues/artists are 2018-2020 era.
