The experience
Uluru is a place to experience, not a bookable music venue. There is no stage and no programme. The 348-metre sandstone monolith stands in Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, on Anangu Country, and is sacred to the Anangu. Public ceremonies (inma) are rare and protocol-controlled, and the climb has been closed since 26 October 2019. What is available to any visitor is the country itself, walked at sunrise, in quiet. Approach it as a guest: follow the park's cultural guidance and photograph only where signs allow.
Insider tip
Walk in knowing
Go at sunrise, keep your voice low, and read the Cultural Centre's guidance before you walk. Do not expect a public ceremony.
Why it fits
Why it is in the atlas
A place the atlas holds with care. It is here for its silence, on Anangu terms, not as a venue.
