The experience
Perth Concert Hall is closed. It shut on 21 December 2024 for a $150.3 million redevelopment by WITH Architecture Studio and OMA. The Western Australian Government plans an official opening in early 2028. ADCO Constructions won the works contract in December 2025 and main works were under way by March 2026. Every seat is being replaced with improved sightlines and a new automated stage lift goes in. The level-two foyer expands towards the Swan River, and new rehearsal and event spaces are added. The building opened on 26 January 1973, the first concert hall built in Australia after the Second World War, and is heritage-listed. Behind the stage stands Ronald Sharp's organ of 1976: three manuals and pedal, 42 speaking stops, mechanical key action. It is his second-largest concert organ after Sydney Opera House. Before closure the hall seated 1,891. Until it reopens, the West Australian Symphony Orchestra plays at His Majesty's Theatre and five other venues.
