In the room
The experience
You come in off King William Walk and the stone does the first trick: two white domes and two long colonnades, matched like a mirror, with the river at one end. Wren built it for sailors who could no longer sail. On a summer night it holds a crowd, a stage at the far end of the square and stone on either side of the sound, so it feels like a room rather than a field. When the light goes the domes are lit for the show and the whole of Greenwich seems to have come out to see who is playing. In August 2026 it was Moby, with Jacob Lusk singing Natural Blues. The river did not object.
Insider tip
Walk in knowing
Take the Uber Boat by Thames Clippers to Greenwich Pier and walk in along the river; Cutty Sark DLR is a few minutes away. Labyrinth shows in 2026 were 18+ with last entry at 7pm, so do not plan a late arrival.
Why it fits
Why it is in the atlas
A World Heritage baroque courtyard used as a summer venue: few open-air rooms anywhere frame a stage with architecture this good, and the stone on three sides makes it feel like a room rather than a field.
